FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Israel ParaSport Center Welcomes Jon Michelon as New US Board President
[1/16/2025]
The Israel ParaSport Center proudly announces the appointment of Jon Michelon as President of its American board. Jon succeeds Lori Ann Komisar, whose dedicated leadership has profoundly shaped The Center’s reach and impact.
With a rich philanthropic background, a compassionate outlook, and a steadfast commitment to empowering others, Jon Michelon brings a vision to build upon Lori’s incredible legacy. His leadership will further advance The Center’s mission to provide transformative opportunities for athletes with disabilities and expand its philanthropic reach across the United States.
Jon is a University of Michigan graduate and logistics entrepreneur. Together with his wife, Stacey Sherr Michelon, a fellow University of Michigan graduate with a law degree from Northwestern Law School, they have built a life centered on family, philanthropy, and cheering for the Chicago Bulls. Married for 30 years, the couple has five children and three dogs.
Jon’s commitment to giving back was shaped by his late grandfather, Alvin Cohn, who instilled in him the principle of always giving back more than you take. This value has guided Jon’s support for numerous organizations, including the Jewish United Fund, Glencoe Family Services, and Am Shalom of Glencoe, Illinois.
The Israel ParaSport Center, located in Ramat Gan, is a 65-year-old hub for adaptive sports and rehabilitation. As a cornerstone of Israeli sports, The Center empowers athletes with disabilities to live life without limits, offering programs that span from life-changing rehabilitation to elite, Paralympic-level training.
“The Israel ParaSport Center stands as a beacon of hope and resilience,” said Michelon. “I am honored to take on this role and work alongside an extraordinary community dedicated to fostering empowerment, inclusion, and excellence in adaptive sports.”
Under Jon Michelon’s leadership, the organization aims to deepen connections, broaden opportunities, and unlock new potential for the athletes and programs that define the Israel ParaSport Center.
