N Navigate to the Mitzvah Project page to learn about other Mitzvah students and the reasons why they are passionate about sports and The Center. Once we create your donation page, be sure to share it with your family and friends.
A Amplify your voice and share information about The Center with your family and friends. The kids at The Center are just like you in many ways. They share a desire to make friends, be active and social, and participate in sports. Once we create your donation page, be sure to share it with your family and friends.
I Inspire others to get involved and contribute to your Mitzvah project. Inspiration comes from learning the stories of athletes at The Center including how and why they became involved, the sports they play, and the many social benefits that come from The Center’s community. Upon signing up to be part of our Mitzvah team, we will send you some fun SWAG that may inspire questions and interest in The Center and your mitzvah project.
Second Half: Start your fundraising campaign
To prepare for kick-off, picture your fundraising campaign as a sports game or match. Set realistic and achievable goals for how much you hope to raise. Remember, you are part of a team. Work with your parents, family, and friends to brainstorm ways to fundraise that resonate with you.
Some of the ways that other Mitzvah project fundraisers have raised money include:
- Hosting a wheel-chair basketball game
- Hosting or participating in a jump-rope-a-thon, dance-a-thon, or walk-a-thon
- Organizing a tournament for your favorite sport
- Holding an event at your school or synagogue with a special guest
The opportunities are endless! Have fun with it and do it in a way that is meaningful to you.
Here are some other ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
M Movie Night: Turn your basement or family room into a movie theater with a concession stand. Invite 5 friends over at a time to watch a sports movie or a fan favorite. Between admissions and snacks, you are on your way to reaching your fundraising goal.
I Icing on the Cake: Host a bake sale and make it easy and low-cost. Ask a dozen family members to bake their favorite treats. See if your school would allow you to set up a table during your lunch period. Or maybe the sale could be held during a school assembly or sporting event.
T Team with a shoe drive fundraising organization: Check out www.gotsneakers.com (this is just one example) and collect and donate gently used sneakers in exchange for money.
Z Zombie Zingy! What do these words have to do with this fundraising idea? Zilch! Contact your local, favorite fast-food restaurant to sponsor an evening and donate a percentage of proceeds on behalf of the Israel ParaSport Center.
V Volunteer to do chores for your family, babysit for neighbors, walk dogs, shovel snow, etc.: In exchange for payment ask for donations.
A Ask for donations: Consider including information about the Israel ParaSport Center with your mitzvah invitation and in your synagogue’s bulletin. Share your connection to The Center and the efforts you are making to raise money. Remember to also share your donation page from the Israel ParaSport Center website.
H Host a Penny Drive: Partner with local businesses or your favorite restaurant in your community to put fundraising jars at checkouts. Children visiting these places can make their small gifts by putting a few cents in the jar. Not only will you be raising money, but you will be helping other kids to learn the importance of tzedakah.
