Israel ParaSport Center Expands Team Amid Strategic Growth

The Israel ParaSport Center is excited to announce the addition of four dynamic professionals to its team, furthering its mission to empower athletes with disabilities and expand its impact globally.
Jackie Shapiro – East Coast Director
Jackie Shapiro joins the Israel ParaSport Center as the East Coast Director, bringing a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership and community engagement. A native New Yorker, Jackie previously served at the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, where she played a pivotal role in fundraising for the Celebrate Israel Parade. Her expertise in developing community programs, including the Blumberg Fellowship, highlights her dedication to fostering civic leadership among young Jewish leaders. Jackie’s extensive work with the Jewish Federations of North America included leading initiatives that delivered humanitarian aid and built critical community resources in the U.S. and abroad.
Shaina Sugar – Midwest Director
Shaina Sugar steps into the role of Midwest Director, leveraging over a decade of experience in the Jewish communal sector. Based in Evanston, IL, Shaina has dedicated her career to advancing philanthropy in Jewish community development. Her previous roles, including Director of Development for URJ 6 Points Specialty Camps, demonstrate her commitment to fostering a culture of giving. Following the events of October 7, Shaina spearheaded a fundraiser that led to the dedication of a wheelchair to the Israel ParaSport Center. With a personal connection to the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, Shaina’s passion for adaptive sport makes her a valuable addition to the team.
Jeff Pearlman – Director of Development
Jeff Pearlman joins the Israel ParaSport Center as Director of Development, bringing 15 years of experience in sales leadership within the tech industry. A Highland Park, IL native, Jeff has held management roles at notable companies, including Groupon and ReviewTrackers, where he oversaw large teams and drove strategic growth. His passion for community engagement is reflected in his involvement with the Young Professionals Committee for The Illinois Holocaust Museum. Jeff’s expertise in building strong relationships and driving results will help expand the Center’s fundraising capabilities.
David Gutbezahl – Director of Marketing and Communications
David Gutbezahl joins the Israel ParaSport Center as Director of Marketing and Communications, bringing over a decade of experience in nonprofit marketing and digital strategy. He has held roles in organizations supporting Jewish education and Israel advocacy. David’s expertise includes managing an international publication, web development, and driving digital engagement. His creative approach and strategic insights will enhance the Center’s communications and outreach efforts.
The Israel ParaSport Center is thrilled to welcome Jackie, Shaina, Jeff, and David to its team. Their combined experience and passion for serving the community will be invaluable as The Center continues to expand its impact and provide life-changing opportunities for athletes with disabilities.

The Israel ParaSport Center empowers Israelis with disabilities through a comprehensive range of physical rehabilitation programs at its training center in Ramat Gan, its satellite campus in Be’er Sheva, and outreach initiatives across Israel. Its Hope in Motion Campaign, launched in the aftermath of October 7, provides critical support to victims of the attacks and those affected by the ongoing war.
