American Friends of Israel Sport Center for the Disabled Announces New Name.
AFISCD will be known as the Israel ParaSport Center moving forward.
American Friends of Israel Sport Center for the Disabled, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit providing financial security to an adaptive sport center in Ramat Gan, Israel, is pleased to announce that it has changed its name to Israel ParaSport Center, effective immediately. The new name represents the organization’s dedication to empowering life without limits for Israeli children and adults with disabilities.
“After going through a strategic planning process, it became apparent to us that a name change was needed to better reflect the work of The Center,” said National Executive Director Jennifer Flink. “We are excited to move forward as the Israel ParaSport Center and propel The Center and its athletes to new and exciting heights.”
Founded more than 60 years ago, The Center’s mission to empower people with disabilities through sports has helped thousands of Israelis lead successful lives. The Center has evolved from a small rehabilitation center for polio patients and veterans to a thriving community where people with disabilities and their families are unbound by societal expectations.
The Israel ParaSport Center currently serves more than 2,700 children and adults with disabilities annually through both its holistic rehabilitative and competitive parasport programs. With the help of The Center’s staff, children and adults with disabilities gain self-confidence, learn new skills, find community, and successfully integrate into Israeli society. Everyone has the opportunity to participate in various adaptive sports; from wheelchair basketball and rugby to boccia and wheelchair table tennis, every athlete is empowered to meet and exceed their goals on and off the court.
Our new name reflects the evolution of The Center and the incredible work it does each and every day to transform the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and Israeli society.
